4th Sunday in Ordinary Time (B) - January 31, 2021

1st Reading Dt 18:15-20

Moses spoke to the people, saying: “A prophet like me will the Lord, your God, raise up for you from among your own kin; to him you shall listen. This is exactly what you requested of the Lord, your God, at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let us not again hear the voice of the Lord, our God, nor see this great fi re any more, lest we die.’
And the Lord said to me, ‘This was well said. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kin, and will put my words into his mouth; he shall tell them all that I command him.
Whoever will not listen to my words which he speaks in my name, I myself will make him answer for it. But if a prophet presumes to speak in my name an oracle that I have not commanded him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, he shall die.’ ”

Responsorial Psalm: Ps 95

R –If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts!

* Come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord; let us acclaim the rock of our salvation. Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us joyfully sing psalms to him. R.
* Come, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the Lord who made us. For he is our God, and we are the people he shepherds, the flock he guides. R.
* Oh, that today you would hear his voice: “Harden not your hearts as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the desert, where your fathers tempted me; they tested me though they had seen my works.” R.

2nd Reading: 1 Cor 7:32-35

    Brothers and sisters:
I should like you to be free of anxieties. An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is anxious about the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in both body and spirit. A married woman, on the other hand, is anxious about the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
I am telling you this for your own benefit, not to impose a restraint upon you, but for the sake of propriety and adherence to the Lord without distraction.

Gospel Acclamation: Mt 4:16

Alleluia! Alleluia!
The people who sit in darkness have seen a great light; on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death, light has arisen.
 Alleluia! Alleluia!

Gospel: Mk 1:21-28

They came to Capernaum, and on the sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.
In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit. He cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!” The unclean spirit convulsed the man and with a loud cry came out of him.
All were amazed and asked one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.” Jesus’ fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee

3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time (B) - January 24, 2021

 1st Reading Jon 3:1-5.10

The word of the Lord came to Jonah, saying: “Set out for the great city of Nineveh, and announce to it the message that I will tell you.”
So Jonah made ready and went to Nineveh, according to the Lord’s bidding. Now Nineveh was an enormously large city; it took three days to go through it. Jonah began his journey through the city, and had gone but a single day’s walk announcing, “Forty days more and Nineveh shall be destroyed,” when the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast, and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth.
When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way, he repented of the evil that he had threatened to do to them; he did not carry it out.

Responsorial Psalm: Ps 25

R –Teach me your ways, O Lord!

* Your ways, O Lord, make known to me; teach me your paths, guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior. R.
* Remember that your compassion, O Lord, and your love are from of old. In your kindness remember me, because of your goodness, O Lord. R.
* Good and upright is the Lord; thus he shows sinners the way. He guides the humble to justice, and teaches the humble his way. R

2nd Reading: 1 Cor 7:29-31

I tell you, brothers and sisters, the time is running out.
From now on, let those having wives act as not having them, those weeping as not weeping, those rejoicing as not rejoicing, those buying as not owning, those using the world as not using it fully. For the world in its present form is passing away.

Gospel Acclamation: Mk 1:15

Alleluia! Alleluia!
The Kingdom of God is at  hand. Repent and believe in the Gospel.
 Alleluia! Alleluia!

Gospel: Mk 1:14-20

After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Then they abandoned their nets and followed him.
He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They, too, were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat, along with the hired men, and followed him.

Feast of Sto. Niño (Philippines) - January 17, 2021

1st Reading: Is 9:1-6

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great
light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has
shone. You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing,
as they rejoice before you as at the harvest, as people
make merry when dividing spoils. For the yoke that burdened
them, the pole on their shoulder, and the rod of their
taskmaster you have smashed, as on the day of Midian. For every
boot that tramped in battle, every cloak rolled in blood, will
be burned as fuel for flames.
For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulder
dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor,
God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace. His dominion
is vast and forever peaceful. He will rule as David’s successor,
basing his power on right and justice, from now until
the end of time. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this!

Responsorial Psalm: Ps 98

R –The Lord is King; let the many isles be glad!

* Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done wondrous
deeds; his right hand has won victory for him, his
holy arm. R.
* The Lord has made his salvation known; in the sight of
the nations he has revealed his justice. He has remembered
his kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel. R.
* All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our
God. Sing joyfully to the Lord, all you lands; break into song;
sing praise. R.
* Sing joyfully to the Lord with the harp, with the harp
and melodious song. With trumpets and the sound of the
horn, sing joyfully before the King, the Lord. R.

2nd Reading: Eph 1:3-6.15-18

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in
the heavens, as he chose us in him, before the foundation of
the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love
he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ,
in accord with the favor of his will, for the praise of the glory
of his grace that he granted us in the beloved. Therefore,
I, too, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your
love for all the holy ones, do not cease giving thanks for
you, remembering you in my prayers.
May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
glory, give you a Spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting
in knowledge of him. May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened,
that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his
call, what are the riches of glory in his inheritance among
the holy ones.

Gospel Acclamation: Jn 1:14

Alleluia! Alleluia!
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Gospel: Mk 10:13-16

People were bringing their little children to Jesus that he
might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When
Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them:
“Let the children come to me. Do not prevent them, for the
Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, I say to
you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a
child will not enter it.” Then he embraced the children
and blessed them, placing his hands on them.

Baptism of the Lord - January 10, 2021

1st Reading: Is 42:1-4.6-7

    Thus says the Lord:
“Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one with whom I am pleased, upon whom I have put my Spirit. He shall bring forth justice to the nations, not crying out, not shouting, not making his voice heard in the street. A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoldering wick he shall not quench, until he establishes justice on the earth. The coastlands will wait for his teaching.
I, the Lord, have called you for the victory of justice, I have grasped you by the hand. I formed you, and set you as a covenant of the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confi nement, and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.”

Responsorial Psalm: Ps 29

R –The Lord will bless His people with peace!

* Give to the Lord, you sons of God, give to the Lord glory and praise, give to the Lord the glory due his name; adore the Lord in holy attire. R.
* The voice of the Lord is over the waters, the Lord, over vast waters. The voice of the Lord is mighty; the voice of the Lord is majestic. R.
* The God of glory thunders, and in his temple all say, “Glory!” The Lord is enthroned above the fl ood; the Lord is enthroned as king forever. R.

2nd Reading: Acts 10:34-38

Peter proceeded to speak to those gathered in the house of Cornelius, saying: “In truth, I see that God shows no partiality. Rather, in every nation, whoever fears him and acts uprightly is acceptable to him.     You know the word that he sent to the Israelites as he proclaimed peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all, what has happened all over Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”

Gospel Acclamation: Mk 9:7
All – Alleluia! Alleluia!
The heavens were opened and the voice of the Father thundered: “This is my beloved Son, listen to him.”
 Alleluia! Alleluia!

Gospel: Mk 1:7-11

This is what John proclaimed: “One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
